Meet Margie

Your Member for Inala

As a long-time local, Margie attended local schools including Richlands State High School (which merged with Inala State High School to become Glenala State High School in 1996), and has raised her family in the community. Her family has called Inala home for four generations. Margie has been deeply involved in the local area for many years, including over a decade of service on a school P&C while raising her children.

In March 2024, Margie was elected as the State Member for Inala in a by-election, succeeding former Premier, The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk. She was re-elected by the people of Inala in the 2024 general state election. In Opposition, Margie now serves as the Deputy Opposition Whip.

In Parliament, she has served on the Education, Employment, Training and Skills Committee and, as of November 2024, is the Deputy Chair of the Local Government, Small Business and Customer Service Committee.

Since her election, Margie has remained committed to addressing the socioeconomic challenges facing Inala. In her maiden speech – her first address to Parliament – she emphasised the importance of government decisions on communities like Inala and expressed her dedication to serving her constituents. She is proud to be part of a team that delivered record cost-of-living relief measures, including a $1,300 energy rebate, 50-cent public transport fares, FairPlay vouchers, free TAFE, free kindy, and much more.
